HOW TO BUILD A COMPUTER

For many people, having a private computer is quiet easy today. However, is it easy to build a computer by ourselves? Actually, it doesn’t waste time at all and building a computer is just like a piece of cake!
First of all, we have to know clearly what’s happened inside the computer prior to assembling all components. A computer has three main parts: CPU, Memory, and Hard Disk. CPU or processor is the major part of the computer and considered a brain of it which processes all the data we type in or install in. The speed of the processor is measured by Gigahertz (GHz). Therefore, the more Gigahertz a computer has, the faster it can be. Another main part we have to take into account is Memory which is often named RAM. That is a short-term memory which enables the computer to remember running programs, to open files and so on. RAM is made from silicon chips, no moving part, that allows RAM runs with high speed but cannot remain all running documents when the power’s off, this is a disadvantage of RAM. As to Hard Disk, this component is a long-term memory, runs all programs, documents, media, ect. Hard Disk can benefit the user with a huge storage up to 100 GHz of space and costs much less expensive but be slower than RAM. That knowledge above reveals us the PC inside basically.
In addition, building a computer is not complicated at all but we have to be carefully. We must note that always ground ourselves before touching any inside parts of the computer because the main board, RAM… are easily affected by electricity. Therefore, a wrist strap is a good idea to help us transfer the electricity of our body into the ground while doing with any components inside the computer.
Next, we jump into assembling a computer. The first step is that we put processor and RAM to the motherboard and an accompanying fan. The instruction should be used while installing to put them in place. It’s very easy for us to have a motherboard with a cooling fan, RAM and processor. Secondly, we put the motherboard with its cover plate to the case, and then screw them together. We place the fan side faces outside and wires face inside of the case, plug wires in the motherboard by connectors to give power to the CPU. We should use the manual for advice. Then, we connect case fan using available wires from power supply. The last step in building is installing hard disk and CD drive into case. That’s great! We slide hard disk into appropriate slot, connect power supply and supplied cable to it. Similarly with the CD drive, we place it at front of the case, slide it in and make sure that the drive is aligned properly, and then screw it. Connect the drive with the motherboard and the power supply. Also, we connect the CD drive audio with supplied cable to the motherboard and install optical AGP video card to appropriate slot on the main board. That’s all for the basic assemble. The last round but important is to run the PC. Plug it, press power button so we can hear the hard drive cycles and the fan runs. Install CD of Window XP to run the driver for video card, and the driver for the motherboard.
Briefly, buying parts, assembling parts and loading software will make us amazing with our PC. It can help us save money when alter any components in the computer instead of carrying it to the computer shop to repair and help us find it easy to upgrade in the future and to have fun.
